Tucked away in the bustling shopping district of the lace market you’ll discover a real gem. Pretty Orchid is a family owned Thai restaurant and has been serving authentic Thai and Malaysian cuisine here since 1991. One of the few traditional Thai restaurants in Nottingham, Pretty Orchid has a vibrant and inviting atmosphere with great service so you immediately feel welcome and start to relax.
The set menus make it easy for you to explore the delicious range of dishes available and friendly staff are happy to help you make a selection if you are unfamiliar with Thai food. There are plenty of seafood and vegetarian options on the menu too. The gourmet set menu of 15 courses is a fine adventure through the flavours of the East and should be pre-booked, so that it can be specially prepared for you.
C.Y Choong the owner of Pretty Orchid is also a remarkable artist and his artwork is displayed on the exposed brick walls, so not can you enjoy superb Thai cuisine, customers are able to enjoy the interesting array of artwork that surrounds them, a feast for the eyes!
Signature dishes include: Salmon miso, salmon spread with miso paste and gently cooked with seven spices; Malaysian Chilli King Prawns; Weeping Tiger, sirloin steak in tamarind sauce; Rendang, a hot beef curry in reduced sauce with coconut and aromatic spices; Ginger Duck, slices of duck simmered with shitake mushrooms, onions, rice wine and lots of ginger.

Lovely food,more of a fusion sort of menu with some Korean and Malaysian dishes as well as the normal Thai dishes. Great value for money.

A nice relaxed place without the "authentic" overkill sometimes found in Thai restaurants. There are dishes from Malasia, Japan and the rest of South East Asia all cooked very nicely. Service was friendly and there when you needed it, but not intrusive and we had a good night out.

Food was excellent. Pictures on the walls were all of the same type, and not fitting for the restaurant. Toilets were pretty poor, and good toilets are one of the most important signs of restaurant management. Very enjoyable evening though.

The Pretty Orchid is unlucky in one respect as it is on the back of Marks and Spencers, therefore all the windows are faced with bricks and concrete, so they are shuttered, this lead to a claustrophobic atmosphere.
The pre-theatre menu was good, with several vegetarian options, and was clear and concise about the ingredients, and with the total cost of £11 for a starter, main and large glass of wine the value was very good.
Service was ok, however the woman serving us did not replenish the cutlery after the starter, instead asking us to use them for the main course as well.
The food was actually pretty good,I recommend the chicken satay starter and Korean Chicken, however my wife did not like the Mock Duck at all. There was also a severe lack of desserts, and they do not serve espresso, so we had normal coffee.
