Nottingham Restaurant Awards 2009

The annual Nottingham Restaurant Awards is the most prestigious event to be held in the city. Recognised outside of the region for the diversity of cuisine and sheer number of eateries, Nottingham’s fast becoming a top culinary destination venue.
Experience Nottinghamshire was proud to sponsor the Best Local Producer award won by Johnny Putszai at J T Beedham & Sons… supporting the use of local food and drink by the county’s restaurants, cafés, accommodation providers and attractions. The aim is to encourage visitors and residents to look out for local food and enjoy all that Nottinghamshire has to offer. This is helped by providing links between producers and tourism businesses, and promoting those businesses that source locally.
For the second consecutive year… it’s Hart’s! The fine dining restaurant located on Standard Hill and, undoubtedly one of the restaurants that led the culinary revolution in the city some fifteen years ago, took top honours by scooping the Nottingham Restaurant of the Year Award for 2009.
The Hart’s team, led by General Manager, Paul Fearon, collected their award at a glittering ceremony held at Colwick Hall on 17 June, hosted by television personality, Mark Durden-Smith. The 2009 Nottingham Restaurant Awards was sponsored by Nottingham financial advisors and insurance brokers, Wilsons. Here’s what a couple of judges had to say about the awards and, more importantly, the local restaurant scene…
“Nottingham, and indeed its county, has an amazingly diverse choice of really good places to eat and these awards are the perfect way to encourage its inhabitants to get out there and enjoy them.”
Mario Wyn-Jones of Ask Mario, and former Chief Inspector of Egon Ronay’s Guides“The Nottingham Restaurant Awards have given the people of Nottingham pride in their dining-out scene, and by continuing in these uncertain times the awards should be applauded. And if you want proof that food in Britain is outclassing many close European neighbours, then go to Nottingham and explore its impressive range of first-class tapas, cafes, bars, gastropubs and fine dining restaurants.”
