The Cock and Hoop is a nice little pub with a great atmosphere. We arrived with a party of 8 and chose from the Christmas Menu selection. We had all the different starters and mains except for the vegetarian main meal and enjoyed all of them. The starters were a bit small but delicious and the main meals were great. Overall it was fantastic value for money. We only had one desert, which was not very good. However, the waiter was very nice and took it off our bill. Overall the service was outstanding. No complimentary service charge was added. Overall a great place to have a lunch or dinner with friends and very good value for money!

went to the cock and hoop as merchants was fully booked, although the style of food is completely different, I enjoyed myself as much as I would have done if I was at merchants. Great pub grub at great prices. I had the 8 oz sirloin, which was cooked exactly how asked, and couldn't fault any of it really. Will have trouble working out were to go next time!

The waiting service was good and they explained immediately that almost 90% of the main courses were not available which was extremely disappointing to say the least. They appreciated our disappointment and to show goodwill drinks were excluded from the bill. However, the food is not what it used to be which is such a shame.

What a lovely little gastro-pub! Cock and Hoop offers something different – a real treasure. We were tempted to not post a review as I would like to keep it for us; however it’s rude not to share! Next time were in Nottingham we will go again.
