Formerly known as The New Ferry Restaurant, The Farndon Boathouse went through a major refurbishment in 2008 before being opened in 2009. Situated on the outskirts of Newark-on-Trent, just off the A46, it boasts tranquil views across the River Trent and the accompanying rolling countryside.

Built using as many natural materials as possible. The entire restaurant is clad in wood and features chunky exposed roof trusses, stone floors, quirky bar and wall décor and enough floor-to-ceiling windows and folding doors to make it feel like you outside, without feeling the chill. With a rustic charm that is kept contemporary through the use of warehouse-style light fixtures and simple furnishings and fittings, The Farndon Boathouse could quite happily sit side by side with a London eatery and not look out of place. 

Champions of local produce, the kitchen even grow their own herb and salad leaves and smoke a lot of their own cheese and fish in their own, on-site, smoke house. The menu is vast and varies on a daily basis depending on what is seasonally available. With a fantastic a la carte menu as well a brilliant value for money early-bird and lunch time set menus, you really can’t go wrong with the delicious British cuisine on offer. You can expect to see dishes such as seared seabass with homemade pesto and parmesan gnocchi with a squash puree, roast tomatoes garnished with peas and shoots; pan-fried pheasant breast with a potato terrine, crispy ham, confit garlic and peas and jus roti; and confit duck leg with fondant potato, braised red cabbage, pickled carrot and a rich cherry jus gracing the menus. If they don’t have your mouth watering, then the homemade desserts most definitely will!
