The Larder on Goosegate restaurant in Nottingham City Centre
Situated in the city quarter of Hockley opposite Brownes and next to the Market Bar, is The Larder on Goosegate. Its close proximity to the Broadway Arts Cinema as well as an abundance of boutique shops and cafes, the Larder is the perfect venue to visit if you need to recharge after a days’ shopping, have a quick bite to eat before going to the theatre, or to catch up with friends.
Housed within a Grade II, Victorian, listed building which was the former home of a small herbalist’s shop that grew to become the pharmaceutical giants Boots, the Larder on Goosegate elegant yet unpretentious and steeped in history. Proprietors Ewan and Kate McFarlane have done a fantastic job converting this herbologists shop in to the elegant and relaxed restaurant that it is today. With full length windows lining the walls and a fresh, natural colour palette featuring muted turquoises, creams and chocolates, it is bright, airy, and a real pleasure to spend time in.
The Larder On Goosegate team is passionate about sourcing excellent local produce and the recipes are designed to show them off to best effect. Much of their meat is reared and butchered locally by a network of small farmers so that it has travelled no more than 30 miles from field to plate. Details of all the suppliers are given on the menu, allowing you to observe exactly where your food has come from.
Classic British dishes made with the very best, locally sourced ingredients are The Larder on Goosegate’s speciality. On the ever changing, seasonally-inspired menu you are likely to come across dishes such as Belly Pork served with roasted apple, champ, spring onions and a cider gravy, Mushroom Tart with a hazelnut and parsley pesto sauce, and Grilled Plaice with a sorrel and cockle sauce, samphire and crushed Jersey Royals. The Larder have also gained a reputation for their exceptional steaks; all of their beef is sourced from 100%, grass-fed, suckler herd Aberdeen Angus that is matured on the bone for a minimum of 28 days for maximum flavour. The Larder ensure that all cattle are reared to exacting welfare standards, ensuring their cows have a healthy, happy life. With a good selection of vegetarian dishes that go beyond the typical vegetarian lasagne, there is truly something for everyone.
Visiting The Larder on Goosegate, Nottingham, is highly recommended for those who love good food and are looking for a relaxed venue where you are allowed time to savour each mouthful.

Excellent food and service. We had the set menu which is something like £15 for 3 courses. I had the mussels and the steak, and I can strongly recommend both.

First time visitor to the Larder on Goosegate.
The venue was very classy with a nice ambience, the food was of a very good quality, appearence and taste. The staff were very welcoming, attentive and pleasent. We ordered from the pre theatre menu which was exceptional value for the quality of the food. We unfortunately had to leave to see the concert but would have happily stayed longer, we would recommend this restaurant and would not hesitate visiting again.
