Larwood and Voce Restaurant in West Bridgford, Nottingham
Located in West Bridgford, right next to the Trent Cricket Ground on Fox Road, Larwood & Voce is a popular drinking and dining destination for cricket fans, residents and visitors alike. Whilst it is also in close proximity to the Nottingham Forest Football club, it’s location protects it from being over-run by football fans on match day though still manages to be just a few minutes’ walk to the centre of West Bridgford.
With a shabby chic interior complete with patterned wallpaper, huge squashy leather sofas, mismatched tables and chairs and vintage print upholstery, The Larwood & Voce is homely, cosy and welcoming. Whether you are sitting down to enjoy a full three course meal or enjoying lunch on the sofas you will feel relaxed and well-looked after.
The Larwood & Voce is committed to adapting their menu to accommodate seasonal change as well as sourcing high quality local produce and keeping the time between field and fork to a minimum. John Molnar, former Executive Chef of the award-winning Bluu group which included The Red House at Nether Broughton, thinks that local, fresh, seasonal produce is the only way to dine. Working alongside local supplies such as Owen Taylor & Son, butcher for over 10 years, Molnar knows that having a good relationship with farmers, growers and producers is paramount for the best flavours.
The menu practically writes itself as classic combinations such as beer battered Pollock, chips in dripping, marrowfat peas and homemade tartar sauce; slow roast stuffed pork belly, apple sauce and all the trimmings; and grilled salmon fillet, saffron potatoes, purple broccoli and cockle broth. All the dishes are hearty and absolutely delicious. Molnar’s commitment to sourcing local produce sees the Larwood & Voce embarking on a West Bridgford allotment project where the establishment’s vegetables will be grown within striking distance of the kitchen.
Whatever the occasion, you can’t go wrong with a meal at Larwood & Voce in West Bridgford. Offering the very best locally sourced produce and delicious hearty meals, it’s perfect for adventurous foodies right the way through to fussy eaters.

As a group of 10 we ate a number of starters, mains and desserts. Both the chicken terrine and smoked haddock starters went down well. The mains were a little more mixed, with the beef pie being a highlight but the lemon and herb chicken a bit of a let down - the cumin roasted tomatoes and peppers that went with it were not as described and was actually a tomato ragu! All the puddings were enjoyed. We all thought the service was rather slow and lacked any personal touch at all. It was rather busy and the staff were hurried and only just getting by. There was an error on the bill which was rectified when we pointed it out but no apology offered - just that personal touch would have been nice! We went on a half price January deal and all agreed that for the price we paid the food was well matched but all 10 of us agreed that we would not go again and pay the full price for the food as we just didn't feel it offered much more then a standard pub fayre - very nice but nothing special.

Not bad at all for a gastro pub. The atmosphere wasn't the best but that was ignored when the food arrived. I had the slow roast pork belly which I have to say was absolutely amazing. The presentation was pretty mediocre, I have seen prettier dishes and it only came with lentils, could have definitely done with some stodge of sorts. The flavour and texture though was divine. The real shock was the price, we came on the 7mags night which meant the dish was only £7, which was possibly the best value meal I've had in my life. Service was fairly prompt and waiting staff were friendly enough, if not a little informal at times. I would recommend it to friends.

Very relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. Felt a little rushed when we were being told about the special foods and wine that were on offer before we had sat down, but otherwise very good service and very good food.
