Woodborough Hall restaurant in Woodborough, Nottingham
Drive just ten minutes from Nottingham city centre on the A60 and you will enter the idyllic village of Woodborough and stumble upon Woodborough Hall; a lovingly restored, tranquil and charming country estate. This exquisite Grade II listed hall provides a wonderful atmosphere for an intimate dinner or special occasion.
Diners are able to choose to be seated in either of the two dining rooms at Woodborough Hall; the informal brasserie or the formal a la carte restaurant. Each room is styled slightly differently and offers diners a custom dining experience to suit their needs. The rooms are both decorated sympathetically to enhance the original features of the hall; full length pleated tablecloths, ornately carved chairs and mirrors and classic table settings.
Woodborough Hall pride themselves on their selection of the best suppliers and the traceability of their free range produce. They have chosen fabulous local produce makers including Goats Cheese from Skylark Hill in Cropwell Bishop; free range animal produce from local farms as close as Papplewick and they even travel, in person, to Rungis Market in Paris to buy the finest of herbs, spices and cheeses.
Celebrated Head Chef Des Sweeney, who has worked as a Chef for the Royal Family at Buckingham Palace, expertly creates varied and exciting menus that delight the taste buds. Seasonal dishes that currently grace the menu include Fillet of Scotch Beef with petit glazed onions, oyster mushrooms and potato rosti with a red wine jus, Beechmast Farm’s honey roast crisp pork belly with creamed potato and cider apple sauce and Smoked Haddock with buttered spinach, soft poached egg and French hollandaise.
The staff are incredibly well informed about the ingredients and the local suppliers that provided them and are very helpful when you require help deciding on a meal. The chef is also happy to cater for special dietary requirements and vegetarians are well catered for.
If you are looking for a retreat from the hustle and bustle of city dining, a trip to Woodborough Hall is just what the doctor would prescribe.
